Debt Diary: Pt. 1

Because I’m tired of being in debt and because some substantial things have happened in my life recently, I’ve been making some extra-ordinary measures to pay my debt down as fast as possible so I have cash left over from my paychecks to live on my own. JP moves out in 5 weeks and I only get paid once a month, so I have to make the most of my checks without going broke before my next payday! It’s hard but luckily I’m obsessed over my financials so I can evaluate them each month to determine if I’m making the best financial moves.

I recently came into some money and purchased some items that were must have, nice to have, and paid off 2 credit cards! Yes, 2! As well as paid a $580 doctor bill from my foot surgery. I was able to eliminate a $900 balance on one of my credit cards and a $1,222 balance on another. (whew) I also stashed $700 into savings in anticipation of my big move in March/April once my foreclosure goes through. [insert very sad face]

I have 7-8 more months to really put the clamp on my finances and go hard at my 2 remaining credit cards. One with a balance of $4,000 and the other with a balance of $1,874. I think I will be able to get the majority of the big one down by the time I move and with the low interest on the smaller cc, it will beĀ manageableĀ once I move. Check out my Debt Diary for more of a break down of the finances that keep me up at night! :)

Lastly, because JP is moving soon, I’ll have to get furniture. I don’t want anything fancy or expensive because this is obviously a year a savings and meager living that I must work on. I’m thinking of either purchasing a loveseat, gently used from a Thrift Store or getting a cheap futon so there is extra room for any guests that I may have over. I’ll also need a dresser, which I definitely want to refinish so I want to get one used [and cheap!] as well as a stand for my tv and a new desk. By new, I mean thrifted and given new life. Lastly, I’ll begin my FIRST DIY project soon and I’m extremely excited about it! I scored a charger station for my iPhone at Target in an ugly wood tone. It was marked down from $29.99 to $7.48. So I picked that sweet thing up and brought her home with me, all googly eyed over the plans I had in store for her. Transformation to come soon. Happy Thursday everyone!
