I Caught a Little Bug

It’s been a bit quiet around here the past week, mostly because I went on a short work trip to Kansas City and came back with a bad cold. So bad, that I was in bed for two days with aches, pains, stuffy nose, cough, and all other terribleness. I’m just starting to recover – and actually finally got my voice back yesterday. I’m hoping for a full recovery before Tuesday – my 30th birthday!  No one wants to be sick on their birthday!

We have a relaxing weekend plan with JP prepping for finals and me getting my bearings back. I’ll be back next week with a re-cap on my trip to Kansas City, a book review, and some birthday fun!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

A Few of My Favorite Blogs …

I thought I’d share with you where I get my inspiration from and who’s pages I’ve been creeping on lately, as I have some recent new faves:

  • Tammy from Lemons, Avocados and the Bay is one of my new favorite finds. She resides in San Diego – one of my hands-down favorite parts of the entire state of California and is a constant reminder of the beauty that I miss on a regular basis. Seriously, I think my heart is partly left in California.
  • John + Sherry from Young House Love are part of my daily must-read routine. I discovered this quirky couple a few years ago and have been hooked ever since. Their roadtrip to Dallas video? Best thing ever. You’ll instantly want to be BFFs with them and then want them to redecorate your house for you. And with their adorable 3 year old Clara and furbaby Burger, you won’t be able to get enough of their adventures. Plus, they’re hysterical.
  • Roo from Neon Fresh. Need a pick-me-up after a bad day or just because it’s Monday? Roo provides hysterical commentary and cute stick-figure drawings to keep you clicking throughout her entire site.
  • Kylie, Lisa + Megan from Traveling Triplets will have you itching to fill up your passport with stamps from places around the world! If you love multiples and love travel blogs, this is the one for you! Not only are these identical triplets GORGEOUS but the gals travel on some pretty neat adventures and take some awesome pics along the way!

And because we’re talking favorites today, I have a new favorite that’s been on loop on my iTunes …

So cheery, and summery and I love all of their music videos basically. Mkay, it’s verging on obsession. Happy Monday!

Thoughts on Turning 30

Tomorrow is May 1st which means I’ll officially be in the month of my birthday. This year is different because I have a milestone to hit – the BIG 3-0. Now those of you who are already 30 or over 30 will probably roll your eyes and scoff at me with your NBD (no big deal) attitude, but I don’t care. I’m freaked out by 30 and kinda bummed by it. I’ve oddly always been comfortable being in my 20s. I know people say that when you hit 30 is when you really start growing into yourself and it’s the best years ever. I’m sure it is. But I’ve really enjoyed being in my 20s. I think I’ve learned a lot about myself in the past decade and yes “youthfulness” is great but I’ve been more comfortable in my skin as a teenager and in my 20s than I fear I’ll be as I grow older.

It’ll be weird writing that 3 down before my double-digit age on forms and stuff now. And it’ll be weird to “officially” feel grown up even tho I grew up years ago. And many of my friends that I talk to tell me that time didn’t stop when they turned 30. That it was really truly no big deal. I don’t know, I’m sure I’m being a big baby about it. What are your thoughts on hitting those milestones? Anyone have the best 30th or 40th birthday ever?
